This sweet little oil painting is signed W Conlon '34. WPA era. Oil on board of a landscape. Maybe the image is of the pretty green mountains in Western Pennsylvania where we bought it?
The reverse side has an original art show label from 1944. "Exhibited at The Union League of Philadelphia First Whims and Hobbies Show September 8-23 1944. We love the depression era provenance of this piece and then the wartime art show of when it was exhibited.
The piece has some wear on it's surface. Small paint flecks/surface wear. It appears as if it was framed at one time, hence the wear on edges. It would look great re-framed. Perhaps in a modern simple frame. or in an antique gilt wood frame.
