This old oil on canvas, depicting a man sitting by the sea, has a most interesting poem written around it's wood stretcher on it's backside. Titled The Sailor by the Sea. We like it's simple, outsider art quality. Signed lower right corner.
The backside reads The Sea. WRS 5-2nd helmsman "There is rapture on the lonely shore, there is society where one intrudes,By the Deep sea. And music in it's roar. The mermaids no longer sing for anyone but each one of us has to once to the lonely to wait and listen"
Unframed. Stretched on it's original wood stretcher. Minor surface wear. A paint chip here and there.
