Whether they are used as book ends, to flank a shelf or credenza, or become part of a cool vignette, these Foo Dogs have a superb look. Intricately carved or formed with stern and mesmerizing faces. Wood ? Wood like forms with carved details. The bases have an inherent slight rock or wobble, typical to old wood real antiques. There is a slight tinge of an old metal sheen or paint/glaze here and there on each piece. Each Foo Dogs has nice weight. They do not feel light or hollow. Minor surface wear with small nicks and some light scratches.
The Foo Dog (female) on the left has what appears to be an old fissure/line where the dog's block meets the base. This may have always been there. They are in as found condition from a high end Westchester County NY estate sale.
We are unsure of their age and cannot vouch for age and provenance. But we can certainly promise a dramatic pair of detailed Foo Dogs. We are unsure of their maker, or what they are made of. But they have a lot of weight to them.
