Sitting Woman By The Sea Original Painting by Doris Klein

A large and dramatic oil on canvas by listed Artist Doris Klein (read below.) Large and bright, the sitting woman could be perhaps Klein's interpretation of Mona Lisa. Possibly sitting by the sea beneath a flying seagull. We love her cool, subtle glance towards her front and her folded hands.
The colors maintain their depth and brightness. The ground color in particular is stunning. We date the piece to the early mid century, perhaps around 1949-1960.

Very minor surface wear with a few tiny signs of paint loss and craquelure. No holes or dents/cracks. The artwork is in it's original wood gilt painted frame. An original beige linen mat surrounds the painting within the frame. There is a section of the frame missing and re colored at the bottom right which represents an old repair to the frame.
