Here's what we love about this really cool mid century abstract expressionist painting...
Is it's references to Rothko, Mondrian or maybe Hans Hoffman, - cubes or squares. Or the off balanced composition where the cubes are oriented to the left.
We just love the primary colors and how it jumps off the white wall we have it hanging on. It is intended to hang horizontally, at least in the frame it is in. If re-framed, this piece could also be hung horizontally, which would rewrite the the perceived view.
Painted on artist's board. Unsigned. There is only penciled numbers on the back.
We acquired it framed in a vintage chrome metal frame. The frame has some surface wear. There appears to be two pin holes on the deep navy left and the red stripe on the right. Maybe the artist had it hung on an easel with pins or small nails. Minor surface wear to the front of the painting and paint. We have not cleaned or altered this piece and is in as found condition.
