Beautiful antique Lavar Kerman Persian rug straight from an East Hampton, NY estate. Beautiful color and pattern. We estimate it to be from the early 20th century, perhaps 1910-1920.
Some minor wear to edges as shown. Appears to have little fading. The rug has not been cleaned and is in as found condition. Read below some information regarding Lavar Kerman rugs.

Raver was a town 120 miles from the city of Kerman where American companies owned a large number of looms. Through the 20th century the Atiyehs were a major producer of Kerman carpets. It only stopped when due to the Islamic revolution and ensuing difficulties they shifted production to China.
Many early Kerman Lavar rugs feature kaleidoscopic floral patterns and curvilinear vinescrolls decorated with a variety of vibrant and subdued colors. In the 20th century, regional designs shifted to reflect a European composition, including saturated colors and a rich monochromatic field. Lavar Kerman rugs feature supremely detailed patterns, innovative colors and discontinuous borders with elements that invade neighboring areas. The impeccable craftsmanship, tightly placed knots and exceptionally diverse range of colors set Kerman Lavar rugs apart from those created in Persia’s other great carpet-producing cities.
