It's all about those legs! The fantastic size of the large, turned bulbous, legs almost make this antique piece appear modern in an architectural way. Against a light colored wall, the legs are the center stage. Place a modern lamp atop this antique piece and you bring centuries together.
Use as a foyer or living room piece or a dining room piece.
Pardon the tilt in the main photo. This piece is not tilted.
Jacobean hall table or small desk. Possibly English, circa 1850-1870. Provenance unknown. Believed to be oak in it's original finish. The small angelic, cherub wood face on the arcaded panel is a drawer pull. The sides have large carved relief medallions. Egg and dart carved molding along the top gallery edge.
There is an old "label" on the back of the piece. It may be an old dealer's tag, not a maker's tag. We cannot make out the words.
Condition is good. There is a small piece of the drawer's bottom left edge missing. Surface wear and scratches on original wood surface. The cherub drawer pull has wear on it's "chin."
